Surface engineering

Our nanosurface engineering activity develops solutions at the interface between micro-, nano-, and biotechnologies.
Printable electronics is a set of emerging technologies that includes new materials, process equipment and devices. The approach is based on additive manufacturing and makes large area, lightweight, flexible, distributed electronics a reality. Using equipment evolved from the world of traditional printing, printed electronics offers the potential for the large-scale implementation of devices.
Thin-film solar cells are developed and combined with silicon-based cells to create integrated units that may eventually feature a conversion efficiency of more than 30 percent.
