The aim of ISTePS is innovation of products, manufacturing processes and systems as well as of business models in order to support companies in the fields of design, automation and management of production systems and the related value chains.
In the additive manufacturing domain, the focus is on the design and development of industrial machines and robots for multi-material deposition of metal (titanium and aluminum alloys) and composite materials (carbon and glass fibrebased). Subtractive and additive technologies are integrated in hybrid solutions, monitored and adapted by an in line CAx chain bound to the CNC. Industrial applications in current H2020 projects are in the medtech, aerospace and automotive domains.
For Industry 4.0, ISTePS develops simulation methodologies and multidisciplinary tools for the design, engineering and management of CPS-based Smart Factories, supporting production-related activities during all phases of the life-cycle. Modeling methodologies such as business process engineering or value stream mapping are integrated with product-process- plant design concepts driven by mass customization, sustainability and life-cycle management objectives.
